Accreditation of Selected Universities for the “Academic City Collaborative University” Promotion Project

In order to further promote university-wide regional collaboration efforts, Kyoto City and the University Consortium Kyoto are implementing the “Gakumachi Collaborative University” Promotion Project, which supports universities that are engaged in the development and implementation of practical educational programs in which students learn through activities in collaboration with the local community, as a new project this fiscal year.
As a result of the examination by the selection committee of experts, the six universities will be certified as selected universities for the “Academic Town Collaborative Universities” promotion project, and a certification ceremony will be held.

Kyoto City is home to 38 universities and junior colleges, and is home to 145,000 students, or about 10% of the population. In order to utilize the “accumulation of university education and research results” and “student vitality,” which can be said to be Kyoto’s assets, to solve local issues and revitalize local issues, and to create opportunities for students to learn and grow through involvement with local communities, we have implemented the “Gakumachi Collaboration Project” to support the efforts of seminar units and student groups.

In order for Kyoto City and the University Consortium Kyoto to further enhance and develop these initiatives, it is necessary to link them to the organizational efforts of the university in addition to the efforts of seminar units and student groups.
