The Consortium of Universities in Kyoto’s newsletter “THE CONSORTIUM OF UNIVERSITIES IN KYOTO” No.48 has been published! This time, we would like to introduce the special projects that we are posting.

【Special Feature 1】Introduction of Member Schools: Otani University and Otani University Junior College

As part of the university’s reforms, Otani University and Otani University Junior College announced the concept of making it a multi-faculty for the first time since its opening. In April 2018, the Faculty of Sociology and the Faculty of Education (both tentative names) were added to the traditional Faculty of Letters, and a three-faculty system was envisioned, and in parallel, a long-term comprehensive campus development plan was implemented based on the “Five Basic Policies” indicated in the Grand Design. In this interview, we interviewed President Yasushi Kikoshi about the background of the university reform, the aim of the grand design, and his expectations for the University Consortium Kyoto.

【Special Feature 2】University Consortium Kyoto “Academic City Collaborative University” Promotion Project, Regional Collaboration Initiatives

We would like to introduce the “Gakumachi Collaborative University” Promotion Project (a collaborative project with Kyoto City) and the “University and Regional Collaboration Summit” (nickname×: Gachi Link), which began in 2016.

◇ Producer’s comment
We created it with the image of a maroon that makes Kyoto smell internationally.
Since ancient times, everyone has kicked each other, tied the knot, and enjoyed each other, and we thought it would be the best way to create an image of Kyoto’s regional cooperation.
I thought that the “circle” of collaboration was a concise and clear image of university collaboration and education where it is important for everyone to “connect” with each other.

The beauty of Kyoto = “Wheel” is to eliminate unnecessary things and pursue things that are simple and meet needs. And above all, the charm of “Japanese” is that it is “beautiful to look at”.
We calculated the color rendering to make the colors of Kyoto look more beautiful, and valued the instantaneous beauty.
