Outline of the presentation in Kyoto in English

 

Why don’t you actually experience the traditional culture of Japan and learn the know-how to give a presentation about Kyoto and Japan in English so that you can introduce Kyoto and Japan culture in English when people from overseas ask you, “What kind of country is Japan?”
You are planning to study abroad, are interested in studying abroad, or want to explain Kyoto and Japan to people overseas in Japan… Mr./Ms., please join us!
   
~~Outline of “Presentation on Kyoto in English” ~~

A total of six half-day training sessions will be held to learn English expressions about Kyoto’s tourist attractions and the traditional culture of Kyoto and Japan.
〈Training Day (6 sessions in total)〉Implementation method: Face-to-face method Time: 13:30~17:00 (with breaks)
1. Saturday, May 29, 2021 :(1) Ice Break, Introduction to Japan and Kyoto ~Learn about Japan and Kyoto in English~
(2) Learn expressions that explain traditional Japan culture in English
2. Saturday, June 5, 2021: Traditional culture (1) Hands-on experience of the tea ceremony
3. Saturday, June 12, 2021: Traditional Culture (2) Hands-on experience with flower arrangement
4. Saturday, June 19, 2021: Garden tour (無鄰菴)
5. Saturday, July 3, 2021: Learn about Kyoto’s famous places, events, food, clothing, housing, education, etc. in Japan and Kyoto.

6. Saturday, July 10, 2021: Individual Presentation

◎ Eligibility
: All of the following conditions must be met.
1. Be a student at a member university or junior college of the University Consortium Kyoto
(It does not matter what course you are enrolled in (undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral program))
2. Ability to participate in all training sessions
3. Your English score must be one of the following:
IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 63 / TOEIC 650 or higher
4. Interested in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding

◎ Capacity: about 20 people
◎ Fee: 5,000 yen (total amount for all 6 sessions, including reference materials and actual expenses for exercises)
* Please pay in cash (as little change as possible) on Saturday, May 29 for the first time.
* Please bear the transportation and other expenses related to the course.
◎ Application period: April 9, 2021 (Friday) ~ April 30, 2021 (Friday) 12:00〆 
* If there are a large number of applicants, we will notify you by e-mail by Saturday, May 1 after a lottery.

* Please note that in light of the social situation regarding self-restraint of events to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infections, the holding of this project may be canceled (or postponed) or the content may be changed even at the last minute. In the case of online training (there is a possibility that some of the training will be face-to-face), it is essential to have an Internet connection that can access the online training and a computer environment with camera and microphone functions.

* The implementation of the “Kyoto PR Student Ambassador” for the 2021 academic year has not yet been decided. (The decision will be made by the start of the training and will be communicated to the participants.) )

【Report】The 18th High School-University Collaborative Education Forum Report is now available.

 
On Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6, 2020, we have completed the report collection of the 18th Forum on Collaborative Education between High School and University, “Entrance Examination Reform as a ‘Connection of Education’ II.~Changing the Guidance and Evaluation of High School Education: How High Schools and Universities Approach Entrance Examinations and Education~“. From the viewpoint of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infection, we ask for your cooperation in the following points when using Campus Plaza Kyoto.

・Please wear a mask when entering the building and disinfect your hands with the disinfectant installed at the entrance.
* If you do not wear a mask, you will not be allowed to enter the building in principle.

・If you have a fever (37.5 degrees Celsius or higher or 1 degree above the normal temperature ratio), or if you have symptoms such as cough, sore throat, sluggishness, or difficulty breathing, do not enter the building.

・Please keep the seating distance between seats in the rental room at least 2m (at least 1m) as much as possible. Also, please make sure that people do not stay before or after the usage time.

・Bring a handkerchief or hand towel, and wipe your hands thoroughly after using the restroom.

・Please refrain from talking in the elevator or in the lobby in front of the elevator. You can also use the stairs.

Termination of shortened opening hours due to the early lifting of the state of emergency declaration

With the lifting of the Kyoto Prefectural Emergency Measures on February 28, 2021, We would like to inform you that Campus Plaza Kyoto will resume normal business from Tuesday, March 2nd. In addition, it was assumed that the full refund stated in the notice dated February 5 would be refunded
Cancellations will be accepted by the end of February 28.
