【Event Report】Yoshimoto Gion Hanazuki × Kyoto Student Public Relations Department Event “Gion Hanazuki University”

On Sunday, February 4, 2024, Yoshimoto Gion Hanazuki and the Kyoto Student Public Relations Department collaborated to hold the title “Kyoto Student Public Relations Department presents Gion Hanazuki University ~ OB / OG is back! Homecoming Day 2024 ~”.

The Kyoto Student Public Relations Department is a student organization that aims to disseminate the charm of “Kyoto University City and Student City Kyoto” from the perspective of university students studying in Kyoto to junior high and high school students nationwide who will become university students in the future through articles and SNS.

About Gion Kagetsu University

This event aims to let people know about the charms of Kyoto universities and student life while enjoying comedy in Kyoto.

In 2019, the event was held at the theater once in 2019, and it was planned by members of the Kyoto Student Public Relations Department, and with the cooperation of Yoshimoto Gion Kazuki, it was held for the first time in five years.

On the day of the event, many Mr./Ms. were seated on the second floor, and many students who were the target of this event also attended.

When the event started, Mr./Ms., a performer entertainer, appeared as the opening and a free talk was held.

After that, Mr./Ms. of each duo presented their stories, and there was a burst of laughter from the audience.

After enjoying the story, there will be a corner planned by the members of the Kyoto Student Public Relations Club, which will be a consultation session for university students and an introduction to student organizations in Kyoto.

At the consultation meeting, we took up the concerns that were recruited from the general public in advance, and the public relations department served as judges, and all the comedians Mr./Ms. came up with solutions.

It was a time when various interesting advice was given and episodes of Mr./Ms.’s student days were heard.

Consultation for university students

After the consultation session, we went to a corner that introduced student organizations in Kyoto, which are full of individuality.

After each group introduced themselves, all the comedians Mr./Ms. experienced the activities together.

There were some sports that I had never seen before, and all Mr./Ms.the spectators seemed to be cheering on the participating comedians Mr./Ms. and having a lot of fun together.

In the hero show, the comedian Mr./Ms. who played the villain defeated the hero, and the entire venue was enveloped in a whirlpool of laughter.

Kyoto Student Organizations Introduction Corner (Doshisha Hero Show Club)

It was the first collaboration event with Yoshimoto and Gion Hanazuki in five years, and thanks to the Mr./Ms. of Yoshimoto and Gion Hanazuki, all Mr./Ms.the comedians, and everyone in the student group, we were able to finish it Mr./Ms. great success.

In the questionnaire for the event, we received many positive comments, such as “The content was substantial” and “It was an event that was easy for students to participate in, so I would like to see more of it.”

For the members of the Public Relations Department who were involved in this event, it seems that being able to give shape to what they planned in this way led to growth and confidence, and it was a great learning opportunity for the Kyoto Student Public Relations Department.

At the information session, we invite seniors who have completed this program, the person in charge of the training site that accepts the students, and the coordinator (university faculty) who is in charge of the lectures as guests. “What is the charm of Kyoto?” and “What kind of country is Japan?” Why don’t you actually experience the traditional culture of Japan and learn the know-how of English presentations so that you can introduce it in English when asked by people from overseas?
Mr./Ms. students who are planning to study abroad, who are interested in studying abroad in the future, or who want to explain Kyoto and Japan to people overseas in Japan, or who are not good at English presentations! Why don’t you learn English while having fun with like-minded friends beyond the boundaries of universities? 
🌸🌸 Outline of 🌸🌸 “Presentation of Kyoto in English”

Through a tour of a temple in Kyoto and an experience of Japan’s traditional culture, we will conduct a total of six half-day training sessions to acquire the ability to give presentations in English.

Training days and scheduled contents (6 sessions in total):
1. Saturday, May 25, 2024 :(1) Ice Break, Introduction to Japan and Kyoto ~Learn about Japan and Kyoto in English~
(2) Learn expressions related to Japan’s traditional culture in English
2. Saturday, June 1, 2024: Visit to the temple (Shogoin Gate Ruins) and walk around the city of Kyoto
3. Saturday, June 8, 2024: Traditional Culture Experience I. (1) Tea Ceremony Experience (2) Expression of Tea Ceremony Culture in English
4. Saturday, June 15, 2024: Traditional Culture Experience II. (1) Flower Arrangement Experience (2) Let’s talk in English about Kyoto’s famous places, events, food, clothing, housing, and education in Japan and Kyoto
5. Saturday, June 22, 2024: (1) International Student Session (2) Group Activities
6. Saturday, July 6, 2024: Personal Presentation

1. Be a Japan student at a member university or junior college of the University Consortium Kyoto [Undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral course is not required]
2. Ability to participate in all training sessions
3. Your English score must be one of the following:
IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 50 / TOEIC 600 / Eiken Level 2 or
higher4. Interested in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding

Kyoto City and the University Consortium Kyoto will hold a report meeting on the results of the “Gakumachi Collaboration Project (University Regional Collaboration Creation and Support Project)” in the Reiwa 5 fiscal year to support efforts for regional revitalization implemented in collaboration between universities, students, and the local community.

Since 2016, the International Student Study Kyoto Network (Secretariat: Kyoto International Business Department, University Consortium) has been conducting an internship program for international students living in the Kyoto area. Purpose and Features

International Student StudyThis program aims to help international students from Kyoto Network member schools find employment at companies and organizations in the Kyoto area (especially mid-tier enterprises and SMEs/organizations) through work experience. For host companies and organizations, there are various benefits such as revitalizing the company by accepting international students, accumulating experience in accepting foreign employees, and PR to international students. *2023 International Student Internship Results (You can check the attributes of international students who participated in the last year.) )

Eligible companies

Approximately 40 companies and organizations with headquarters, branch offices, offices, etc. in Kyoto Prefecture that can accept international students in Kyoto Prefecture

*Please consider accepting 1~2 international students per company or organization.

Eligible International Students

International Students must be enrolled in a member school of the Kyoto Network (equivalent to a third-year undergraduate student or higher).
(Including those enrolled in vocational schools and those enrolled in Japanese schools who have graduated or completed a higher education institution in their home country, etc.) )

Period of employment

Tuesday, August 13, 2024 ~ Friday, September 27, 2024 (tentative)

* For details such as the actual employment period of international students, such as activities outside the status of residence, please consult with the person in charge of the project.

Acceptance Criteria

(1) Paid internship

At a minimum, we ask that you provide at least 5 days (or 40 hours) of work opportunities.

* International students are allowed to work within the range of “permission to engage in activities outside the status of residence (28 hours per week)” during the class period, but 40 hours per week during the summer vacation. You will be able to work until your hours. Please note that the summer vacation period varies depending on the school to which the international student belongs, so please contact us as appropriateCompanies and organizations are responsible for: Dispatch fee (¥1,260 per hour), student transportation fee (actual cost up to ¥1,000 per day) * Once the dispatched international student is confirmed, a worker dispatch contract will be concluded with the management contractor (dispatch company) of this program. As a result, various procedures such as social insurance are not required by the host company or organization, and the procedure is extremely simple compared to direct employment by the host company or organization.

(2) Unpaid internship

During the implementation period, in principle, please set up a work experience of 5 days (or 40 hours). This is a project implemented as an agreement-type internship in which an agreement regarding the acceptance of internships is concluded between the host company or organization and the International Student Study Kyoto Network Secretariat.

Flow after application by the host company / organization

After applying for participation in this program, the temporary staffing agency will proceed with specific administrative procedures.

(1) Registration for companies and organizations (deadline: Friday, May 31)

You will be asked to answer questions from international students about your business and the work you are in charge of.

(3) Selection and matching through individual interviews with international students by the secretariat (late June ~ early July)

(4) Notification of matching results between international students and companies and organizations (mid-July)

(5) Face-to-face visits to companies and organizations (late July ~ early August)

(6) Confirmation of host students, various procedures (paid: dispatch contract, unpaid: conclusion of agreements, etc.) (late July ~ as needed)

(7) Preparatory training for international students (Thursday, August 8)

(8) Employment at the host company or organization (August 13 (Tue) ~ September 27 (Fri))
