2019 English Skill Improvement + Chinese Culture Understanding Training for Teachers and Staff

This year, we have added Chinese cultural understanding training and campus tour training! Every year, it is very popular, so register as soon as possible! Application deadline is Thursday, May 31!

Business Overview

As the globalization of higher education accelerates, such as the enhancement of support for international students and the promotion of collaborative projects with overseas universities, it can be said that the time has finally arrived when the English proficiency of university faculty and staff is indispensable as a basic ability.
The training program of the University Consortium Kyoto aims not only to improve the English proficiency of faculty and staff of member schools who can respond to such times, but also to raise their awareness of language learning in the future.

Campus Plaza Kyoto Revision of Usage Fees [Confirmed]

 

From October 1, 2019, the consumption tax rate will be raised %から10%.
Due to the revision of the usage fee of Campus Plaza Kyoto, the “Kyoto City University Town Exchange Center Ordinance”
The amendment was approved by the city council.

So that you don’t freeze when people from overseas ask, “What kind of country is Japan?”
Let’s understand the culture of Kyoto and your own country, and give a presentation in English!
If you are a student who is planning to study abroad, if you want to explain Kyoto and Japan to people overseas, or
if you want to send information in English from Kyoto, please feel free to apply!

* Those who have completed this training will be appointed by Kyoto City to promote the charms of Kyoto to the world when studying abroad.
You can be appointed as a “Kyoto PR Student Ambassador”. ◎ Outline of “Presentation of Kyoto in English” *To understand the traditional culture of Kyoto and Japan, learn English expressions about culture, and be able to give presentations
We will conduct 6 half-day training sessions to become a teacher.
* Learn expressions about Kyoto’s tourist attractions and traditional culture in English.
* Experience traditional culture (tea ceremony and flower arrangement) and also take an excursion to the scenic spot “Wuzhen” (English explanation available).

We will hold a report session for the 30th “Gakumachi Collaboration Project!!

Kyoto City and the University Consortium Kyoto will hold a report session on the “Gakumachi Collaboration Project (University Regional Collaboration Creation and Support Project)” in 2018, which supports initiatives for regional revitalization implemented in collaboration with universities, students, and the local community.

At the debriefing session, the 19 organizations selected this year will look back on their activities so far and present the results of their efforts.
Why don’t you find new possibilities for collaboration between the university and the local community and hints for regional revitalization from the reports of accredited projects by students, such as regional development through the inheritance of local customs and traditions?

【Expansion of Participation Target】Announcement of the 2nd “Kyoto FDer Juku” in 2018

This training has been expanded to include non-member schools, and
the application period has been extended.

 

The 2nd “Kyoto FDer Juku” in 2018 was originally scheduled to be held on December 1, 2018, but due to various circumstances, it will be postponed to Saturday, March 9, 2019 as follows.
This will be held following the first seminar “Laying the Foundation for Promoting FD on Campus” (held on August 21, 2018), and we will also review the contents of the first session as shown in the outline of the training below. In the future, we would like to invite all the teachers who will be in charge of FD and those who are interested in this field to participate. We look forward to your participation.

Until 2017, the Kyoto FDer School, sponsored by the University Consortium Kyoto, was held as a medium-sized symposium held once a year, but from 2018, it was reorganized into a small-scale training program held multiple times a year with the aim of providing a program that will further develop faculty and staff who will become leaders in FD activities.

theme “Exploring the direction of educational development in one’s own university, faculties, and departments”
Overview

The purpose of this seminar is to clarify the direction of educational development in the university, faculty, or department to which the participants belong through a workshop centered on discussion.
As for the contents, I will summarize the contents of the first course (basic knowledge of FD) in the first part. Second, we will share the case studies of each university and relativize the situation of our own universities (faculties and departments). Third, we will look at the educational development issues of our own university (faculty and department) and consider where we should start. Through the above three points, we hope to provide an opportunity for each participant to gain an opportunity to promote further educational development in the field.

In order to make this seminar more fulfilling, we will conduct a pre-attendance questionnaire. The results of the responses may be statistically processed so that individual names are not known, and then used within the scope of the training. Thank you for your understanding.
