This year’s third session will be held under the theme of “First-Year Course Design/Management System and Student Facilitator System through Collaboration between Students and Faculty” as follows.

Session 3: First-year course design/management system and student facilitator system through collaboration between students and faculty
At Kyoto Sangyo University, the first-year education program starts as a career development support education subject, and “Self-Discovery and University Life” is being developed as an elective course in the spring semester of the first year (currently placed in the introductory and connected courses) with the main focus on “creating an attitude of asking (and continuing) what kind of university life you want to have.” The number of students will be 1,980 each year with 30 classes of 66 students per class. This operation is supported by a team of 80 student facilitators (commonly known as “Gakufashi”) and a management team for each class (consisting of a total of 4 people, 3 facilitators + 1 faculty member) consisting of a team of faculty members in charge, mainly undergraduate faculty members. Kyoto Sangyo University’s academic facilitation system, which has been maintained in a different form since 2006, is characterized by the fact that it is completely volunteer (volunteer system, no selection, no salary or credits). On the day of the event, we will explain what kind of motivation the academic faci members have, how they are involved in the subjects, what kind of training program they are fostering, and the issues at the current stage of this system. This training will focus on the latest information and exchange of opinions on the management system of first-year education subjects at each university in a workshop format, based on the above as an example. For this reason, it is mandatory to participate in the work with the camera on. Each group is facilitated by the academic facilitator, and participants participate in the exchange of opinions from the standpoint of one student and one administrator. We plan to create a place where people can exchange the troubled and good views of first-year education at each university from the standpoint of honest and practitioners, and bring back a relativized perspective to each site. I would like to see both newcomers and veterans mingle and exchange opinions from different perspectives.

We look forward to receiving your application.
