On Saturday, November 10, we held a report meeting on the results of the 2018 Internship Progress Course.

In the “Internship Progress Course” of the University Consortium Kyoto, trainees worked on projects presented by host companies from mid-June to late November. At the debriefing session held on Saturday, November 10, the results of each of the five projects were reported. Some presentations were made with videos and other formats, and students who participated in other projects were able to share their experiences. After about five months of activities, the participants were able to see the importance of collaborating with their peers and the difficulty of achieving their goals.
At the completion ceremony after the results debriefing session, the coordinator faculty members handed out a certificate of completion for each project, and the 2018 Internship Progress Course came to an end.

This is a project to plan and execute wine seminars for students while learning about wine through work at a wine shop. In preparation for the seminar, there were presentations on the difficulties in attracting customers, the state of the seminar on the day of the seminar, and the results of the questionnaire conducted at the seminar. They seemed to realize that wine is not just alcohol, but also a historical and cultural background and a communication tool.

In order to convey the charm of Shimogyo Ward so that many people can feel that it is a city where they want to live and continue to live, there was an announcement about disseminating information using SNS (Twitter), which has a great influence on young people and many people. He also cited areas for improvement in terms of popular content, the influence of people who retweet it, and links and hashtags to increase the ability to disseminate information more broadly.

He announced that the activities that he started to convey the charm of Yamashina Ward, Kyoto City, were able to feel the livability of the Yamashina area and the warmth of the people who live there through interviews and communication with local residents. There was an introduction to free papers and videos created as a result of the activities.

As a project to experience the world of sports business, in order to increase the number of LINE registrations to attract more customers to the professional basketball team “Kyoto Hannaryz”, they announced activities divided into teams, such as how to publicize and plan member benefits.

“2018 High School and University Collaboration Future Session” was held!

On Saturday, November 3, 2018, the 2018 High School and University Collaboration Future Session was held at Campus Plaza Kyoto.

This Future Session is held as a joint high school-university career education program with the aim of promoting career development for high school and university students, and this is the third time this year.
This year, a total of 41 high school and university students participated.

This time, we invited two role models: Mr. Ryo Tsukamoto, CEO of GL Academia Co., Ltd., and Ms. Rika Yajima, Representative Director of Wareru Co., Ltd.
Under the theme of “How to connect work and learning?”, he talked about “what was important to me when thinking about my career path after graduating from high school and university” and “what only humans can do with the rapid development of AI technology”.

In the group work after the role model talk, each group exchanged opinions and thought about questions for the role model.
The questions asked, “Are there any gaps or discrepancies between your dreams when you were a student and your dreams now?” and “How did you overcome your parents’ opposition?” “Would it be better to overcome what you can’t do now, or would you rather develop what you can do?” The participants actively raised their hands, and the two role models answered them carefully one by one, saying, “All the questions I want to answer.”

The Q&A session and the overall summary were displayed in text on the screen, and all participants were able to share information and deepen their understanding.
Participants asked questions such as “What is learning?” and “What is work?” “What is the relationship between learning and working?” was summarized in a worksheet, discussed and presented in groups.

By exchanging opinions across generations of high school and university students, it was a good opportunity to be stimulated about future learning and career choices, such as “learning and work are connected,” “knowing yourself first,” and “thinking about what I should do in the future to create my own axis and trunk.” In addition, I was able to interact with students from other schools and universities that I do not usually meet face-to-face.

The 21st Kyoto International Student Film Festival (11/27~12/2) will be held!

The 21st Kyoto International Student Film Festival is about to begin!

The Kyoto International Student Film Festival is held with the aim of discovering young student directors. This year, the exhibition will be held from Tuesday, November 27 to Sunday, December 2 at the Film Theater of the Museum of Kyoto.
This year, a record 588 films were submitted, and 16 nominated films selected by the Student Executive Committee will be screened. On the final day, the final jury prize selected by the final jury and the grand prize of the live-action and anime categories will be announced. Which work will win the Grand Prix?　-Noticed his talent before anyone else-

On Sunday, October 7th, the 16th Kyoto Student Festival was successfully concluded with a great success and many visitors.
Until just before the main festival, I was worried about whether or not to hold it due to the typhoon.

【For Students】We will hold a cover design contest for the “University Town Kyoto / Student Town Kyoto Promotion Plan 2019-2023”!

In order to improve the attractiveness of “Kyoto City of Universities and Kyoto City of Students,” Kyoto City has been steadily promoting the measures of the “Kyoto City of Universities and Students’ Town Kyoto Promotion Plan 2014-2018,” which was formulated in collaboration with the University Consortium Kyoto in the 2018 academic year. Since this is the final year of this plan, we will formulate the “University Town Kyoto and Student City Kyoto Promotion Plan 2019-2023” as a guideline for new university policies to become “University City Kyoto and Student City Kyoto” in light of changes in the social situation surrounding universities and students.

Rika Yajima (Representative Director, Waeru Co., Ltd.)
Born in Tokyo in 1988.
Graduated from Keio University Faculty of Law and Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance.
Fascinated by artisans and tradition, he began traveling around the country at the age of 19, and began working to disseminate information on Japan’s traditional culture and industry during his university years. With the desire to “pass on the traditions of Japan to the next generation,” he founded Waeru Co., Ltd. in March 2011, when he was in his fourth year of university. In March 2012, in order to create an environment where people can come into contact with the handiwork of craftsmen from an early age, he launched “AERU”, a traditional brand for 0 to 6 year olds, and created original products together with craftsmen from all over Japan. Starting with an online directly managed store, in 2014 he opened a directly managed store “AERU MEGURO” in Tokyo, and in 2015 he opened a directly managed store in Kyoto “AERU GOJO”. We are developing various businesses such as “aeru room” and “aeru oatsurae” to connect to the next generation while utilizing the traditions of Japan and the wisdom of our ancestors in our daily lives.

Ryo Tsukamoto (CEO, GL Academia Co., Ltd.)
CEO of GL Academia Corporation. Education professional, interpreter and translator.
He holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Cambridge.
Graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Doshisha University from a problem child with a deviation value of 30 and on the verge of dropping out. After that, he studied psychology at Cambridge, and after returning to Japan, he established an English conversation school, GL Academia, in Kyoto. His teaching methods, which make use of his knowledge of psychology and his own learning experience, have attracted attention, and he has been inundated with requests for guidance from Japan and abroad. More than 100 Japan students, from working adults, have been admitted to top universities and graduate schools overseas, including the University of Cambridge and the University of London.
He is the author of 11 books, including “Life-Changing Studies for Cambridge Graduates Even with a Deviation of 30,” “The Habits of ‘People Who Do It Quickly’ and ‘Those Who Can’t’,” and “Efforts Continue on Their Own.”

Cancellation of classes in the event of transportation disruption or issuance of warnings, etc.

With regard to the “Plaza Courses” and the University Consortium Kyoto Internship Program, which are credit transfer and Kyoto College courses offered at Campus Plaza Kyoto, the following criteria are set for suspending classes and exams in the event of a storm warning or special warning, or when transportation is suspended due to a disaster or strike, etc., so please make your own judgment according to the standards. For “on-campus courses” offered on the campuses of universities and junior colleges, please follow the instructions of each university or junior college.

1. Criteria for Suspension of Classes and Exams

If any of the following (1) or (2) applies, classes and examinations will be suspended or postponed. Please check the status of the issuance and cancellation of warnings and the operation status of public transportation on TV and radio media outlets or the website of the Japan Meteorological Agency. In addition, regardless of the following criteria, if the University Consortium Kyoto determines that there is a hindrance to the conduct of classes and examinations, classes and examinations may be suspended.

(1) Issuance of warnings

When a special warning or storm warning is issued for the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture or the Kyoto-Kameoka area (secondary subdivision area)

(2) Suspension of transportation
When two or more of the following transportation systems are completely or partially suspended or suspended at the same time:

(1) Kyoto City Bus or Kyoto Municipal Subway (all routes)

(2) JR (Kyoto Line, Lake Biwa Line, Kosai Line, Nara Line, Sagano Line)

(3) Keihan Railway (between Demachiyanagi ~ Yodoyabashi or Nakanoshima)

(4) Hankyu Train (Kawaramachi ~ Umeda)

(5) Kintetsu Train (Kyoto ~ Yamato Seidaiji)

2. Standards for Conducting Classes and Examinations

When the storm warning is lifted or transportation resumes, classes and exams will be conducted according to the following standards. In addition, if an alert is issued during class or exam, in principle, the class or exam being held will not be suspended or postponed, but will be suspended or postponed from the next period.
