Many Mr./Ms. students are interested in the work of writers, but they may be worried about “I don’t know what to write” or “How should I prepare for an interview?”

This time, we will invite Associate Professor Satoshi Horikawa, who has worked in the mass media and is currently teaching media theory and cross-cultural communication theory at Kyoto Sangyo University, as a lecturer to talk about the work of a reporter and tips for writing articles.

Anyone who is currently active in the Kyoto Student Public Relations Club, as well as those who have just started their university life in the spring and are unsure about choosing a student group or club, are welcome to participate, not just first-year students, as long as they are students at universities and junior colleges that are members of the University Consortium Kyoto.

On the day of the event, there will also be time to introduce the activities of the Kyoto Student Public Relations Department. Through the training and activities of the Kyoto Student Public Relations Club, why don’t you find your “likes” that you have not noticed before?

Born in Toyama Prefecture in 1977. Graduated from Waseda University, Faculty of Letters, specializing in German literature.
After working as a reporter for Jiji Press, a correspondent in New York, and a correspondent in Berlin, he joined Kyoto University in 2018.
He specializes in information security theory. Ph.D. (Academic).

“What is the charm of Kyoto?” and “What kind of country is Japan?” Why don’t you actually experience the traditional culture of Japan and learn the know-how to give a presentation about Kyoto and Japan in English so that you can introduce Kyoto and Japan culture in English when asked by people from overseas?
You are planning to study abroad, are interested in studying abroad in the future, or want to explain Kyoto and Japan to people overseas in Japan… Mr./Ms., please join us!
   
~~Outline of “Presentation on Kyoto in English” ~~

A total of six half-day training sessions will be held to learn English expressions about Kyoto’s tourist attractions and the traditional culture of Kyoto and Japan.

2. Saturday, June 3, 2023: Traditional Culture (1) Hands-on experience of flower arrangement

◎ Eligibility: All of the following conditions must be met.
1. Be a Japan student at a member university or junior college of the University Consortium Kyoto

3. Your English score must be one of the following:
IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 63 / TOEIC 650 / Eiken Pre-1st Grade 4. Interested
in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding

◎ Course fee: 5,000 yen (total amount for all 6 sessions, including reference materials and actual training expenses)
* Please pay in cash (with as little change as possible) on Saturday, May 27 for the first time.

Purpose of the Tournament

Today, universities and other institutions of higher education are playing a variety of roles, not only in research, educating young people, and producing human resources, but also as “bases of knowledge” that create innovation and as a leader in local culture.
On the other hand, in order to respond to the mounting issues such as the declining birthrate and aging society, global environmental problems, new coronavirus infections, and the shift to a digital society, and to create a sustainable society, it is believed that it can only be realized through exchanges involving the local community, not only with higher education institutions alone, but also with various entities such as higher education institutions, government, and industry.
Therefore, the purpose of this forum is to consider the various forms of collaboration in which the university consortium has been involved in order to create a sustainable community in the future, and to look ahead to the future of the university consortium with the aim of creating new value in the post-corona era.

The internship program of the University Consortium Kyoto is a career education program that aims to “stimulate motivation to learn,” “foster a high level of vocational awareness,” and “develop human resources with independence and originality” as part of their studies at the university, rather than as a job hunt.

The long-term project course is a course in which students work on the project theme presented by the internship from mid-June ~ late November.
Students studying at different universities work as a team to achieve the goals of the project while exchanging opinions with the people at the training site, and you can gain a solid problem-solving experience.

In the online information session, you will receive an overview of the course and an explanation of the project theme from each training site!

【The 18th Policy Research Exchange Conference from Kyoto】The winners appeared in “Policy Media”

Mr./Ms. Hayashida, representative of the Noda Seminar Group C of the Faculty of Policy Studies, Doshisha University, who received the University Consortium Kyoto President’s Award and the Japan Society for Public Policy Studies Award at the 18th Policy Research Exchange Conference from Kyoto, is a non-profit (public good) media “Policy Media” specializing in “policy commentary” operated by the Policy Analysis Network (Public-Private Partnership Policy Platform) He appeared in.

The recording began on the afternoon of Sunday, February 26, 2023, and the program proceeded in a one-on-one dialogue with the program host, Hiroaki Chikano (Deputy General Manager of Japan TV’s Economic Department and Commentator).

Mr./Ms. Hayashida was the youngest of the past performers of “Policy Media,” but it was wonderful to see her give a presentation with dignity and respond to various questions from Mr. Chikano by firmly conveying her own opinions.

It was strongly conveyed that this was a presentation and policy proposal that had been created through the efforts of the team.

After the recording, Mr. Chikano, Mr. Susumu Takahashi (Chairman of the Japan Research Institute, Chairman Emeritas), Deputy Director of the Policy Analysis Network, and Mr. Heizo Takenaka (Professor Emeritus, Keio University), the first representative of the program, held a meeting.

We received feedback on the content of the presentations, and there was a lively exchange of opinions with each other.
