The Kyoto International Student Film Festival, which is celebrating its 27th anniversary this year (scheduled to be held in February 2025), is looking for volunteer translators to translate student films from Japan and abroad into English and Japanese for the festival’s screenings.
The translated text will be displayed as subtitles at the time of the screening.
Those who cooperate will receive an invitation ticket for the duration of the festival as a reward.

Kyoto International Student Film Festival is the largest international student film festival in Japan. The event is organized by the University Consortium Kyoto, and university students from the Kansai region, mainly in Kyoto, are responsible for planning and operation as executive committee members. Independent films produced by students are collected from all over the world, and the students judge and select the films to be screened. Click here for details
Application Guidelines
Eligibility
■ University students, graduate students, and vocational school students who are interested in movies and translation work (working people are also welcome)
■ From September to October, those who can sincerely face the winning works and work with the executive committee to do translation work.
■ Those who can participate in the briefing session on translation (not except those who have experience in translating subtitles)
■ Proficiency in a foreign language (preferably TOEIC750 points or higher)

We will hold a briefing session on subtitle translation online as follows.
* If you are able to participate, the executive committee will inform you of the URL by e-mail.
