[Kyoto University]Higashiyama District In the Awata district of Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, where the Shirakawa River flows, there has been a shortage of local cultural activities due to the aging of the population in recent years. In order to solve this problem, the Laboratory of Environmental Composition, Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University, will serve as the secretariat and hold a workshop-type competition on the theme of “Utilization of the Floating Space of the Shirakawa River”. The project will be carried out with the approval of residents and in cooperation with experts and NPOs. Through the project, we aim to create connections between students and residents that contribute to the liveliness of the region, and to rediscover the charm of Shirakawa. [Kyoto Saga University of Arts]Ukyo Ward With the aim of inheriting and developing the traditional events of Tanabata, which are becoming less and less, the local community will work together to create a Tanabata project in which university students and tourists can participate, led by merchants, through the creation of attractive cityscapes and planning through the design participation of the University of the Arts. Kyoto Sanjo Setsubun Ghost 2013
[300,000 yen]Seika Ghost Party
【Kyoto Seika University】Nakagyo-ku “Setsubun Ghost” is a traditional cosplay in Kyoto, where people wear extraordinary costumes only for Setsubun. It declined after the period of high economic growth, and now remains as a geisha event in the flower district. The Seika Ghost Association was formed three years ago with the aim of reviving the “Setsubun Ghost”, and with the cooperation of the Sanjo area’s senior citizens’ association and women’s association, it has conducted lore surveys, “cafes”, “parades”, etc. Last year, we worked with a local company to develop “Spring Breeze Suku” with earthquake donations. This year, we will cultivate the “ghost culture” of Kyoto’s millennium. Support project for Purple Friends’ “Machiuta Festival”

[300,000 yen]The Ryukoku Project Supporting Mirai’s Environment
【Ryukoku University】Fushimi Ward Residents and students will work together to reorganize the living spaces of the Kamogawa Canal and the surrounding area in the modern and contemporary periods, with an awareness of the cultural landscape, from the three perspectives of “knowing,” “representing,” and “sharing” the time. Specifically, we will collect materials such as interviews and photographs, create a bird’s-eye map, and open an open street museum in collaboration with the community and the university. Here, we will make use of the vertical line called “SOSUI” to build connections between regions that transcend academic sections. A veranda project that connects people
[300,000 yen]Connecting people with the Porch Project Executive Committee
[Ryukoku University, Ritsumeikan University]Shimogyo Ward Due to the aging of the population, the shift to nuclear families, and the increase in the number of condominiums, the number of connections between people is decreasing, and concerns about community welfare remain. In order to improve this, we will investigate and exchange opinions on the “town ena” space where anyone can gather, mainly in Shimogyo Ward, create a map, and hold a “town ena” event. By doing so, we aim to revitalize local ties by making the local people aware of the “town ena” and having them participate. Thirty-six Kasen Machinaka Museum Concept
[300,000 yen]Ryukoku University Monzencho Circle
【Ryukoku University】Shimogyo Ward The purpose of this project is to position Nishi Honganji Monzencho as the “Town of Thirty-Six Uta Sen” and to bring back “liveliness” to Nishi Honganji Monzencho by giving many people a sense of familiarity with Nishi Honganji and Monzenmachi, and by increasing the local population and visitors.
Two types of projects will be implemented: activities to reaffirm the charm of Monzencho to local residents and businesses, and activities to widely publicize the charms of Nishi Honganji Temple and Monzencho.
It is implemented as a two-year plan, and in the first year, the main activity is to prepare basic materials. - Encouragement Prize

Implementation Report
Heisei 24 Public Presentation (2nd Screening)
On Saturday, June 30, 2012, a public presentation of the “Heisei 24 Gakumachi Collaboration Project (University Regional Collaboration Model Creation Support Project)” was held at Campus Plaza Kyoto, where the university and local organizations collaborated to support efforts aimed at regional revitalization in Kyoto City.
This project has been held every year since the 16th fiscal year, and this year is the ninth time. In addition to the presentation groups, a total of 80 visitors listened to their presentations to get a glimpse of the students’ rich ideas and the collaborative ideas of the local community.
This year, there were 13 applications, and 12 organizations that passed the first round of selection made presentations. Of these, several projects were selected as subsidized projects (up to 300,000 yen per project), but all of them were wonderful efforts to revitalize the region.
Kyoto City and the University Consortium Kyoto will continue to support these vibrant efforts of the university and the local community, hoping that they will produce great results!
Heisei 24 Business Certification Ceremony
Of the 13 projects that applied this year, 7 projects were certified as eligible projects and 1 project as an incentive project, and a certification ceremony was held at Kyoto City Hall on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. The Mayor of Kyoto, Kadokawa, presented certificates to the representatives of each project.
Heisei 24 Certified Business Report Meeting
The 24th Gakumachi Collaboration Certified Project Report Meeting and the 25th Academic Year Business Recruitment Briefing Session were held on Saturday, April 6, 2012 at Campus Plaza Kyoto.
On the day of the event, not only students and university officials, city officials, but also the general public attended the event, and eight organizations adopted in the Heisei 24 academic year reported on their activities.
In the process of planning and operating various initiatives in the community, we have faced many challenges, and I believe that the results of the projects will be a great asset for both the students and the community, and will be able to be utilized in future activities.
We hope that such efforts will not be one-off, but will be carried out continuously, creating new businesses, and revitalizing the cycle in each ward of Kyoto City!
