In response to the recent demand in the higher education industry for a shift to an organizational and systematic curriculum based on policies, Dr. Tatsuo Kawashima of the Institute for Future Strategies at Osaka University first gave a keynote speech on curriculum design based on the Duploma Policy, followed by case studies from three universities that are working on specific curriculum reforms. Dr. Kenji Furuya (Professor, Faculty of Education, Kyushu University) spoke about the design and operation of the Institute of Education, Dr. Nobuko Kawahara (Professor, Faculty of Nursing, Kyoto Tachibana University), Dr. Shigeo Kikuchi (Dean and Professor) of Tamagawa University talked about the curriculum reform and creation of mechanisms for the Faculty of Nursing, and Dr. Shigeo Kikuchi (Dean and Professor) of Tamagawa University talked about the construction of liberal arts education and the teaching management system.
In the second half, a panel discussion was moderated by Professor Takashi Yasuoka of Ritsumeikan University, who is a member of the training management team of the Kyoto FD Planning and Research Committee, a university consortium. Based on the questions collected from the floor in advance, questions about the lectures and reports were answered and supplemented, and lively discussions were held.
