Implementation Report
The 20th FD Forum Report [Click here for details]
On Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1, the 20th FD Forum: Questioning Learning Support ~What and to what extent should we do it and to what extent~” was held at Doshisha University’s Imadegawa campus.
Several years have passed since the “Qualitative Transformation of the Bachelor’s Degree Curriculum is an issue that cannot wait,” but universities throughout Japan are still striving to build a systematic curriculum and further improve the learning support environment. With the theme of rethinking the question of learning support, the event was successfully held with the participation of 938 people from 301 universities and institutions nationwide.
On the first day, under the theme of “Questioning Learning Support ~What and to what Extent~”, various programs were held, including case studies, redefinition of learning support, floor discussions, and panel discussions.
On the second day, 14 breakout sessions were held on various themes surrounding university education, such as “flipped classrooms,” “active learning,” “career education,” “student FD and university management,” and “support for students with disabilities,” and reported on practical examples in the field and exchanged opinions with participants. The “Poster Session” held in parallel with the 15 member schools of the Consortium, which exhibited a total of 22 “Educational Practice Cases,” and the “Company Booth” held for the first time this time were very successful, and the participants asked many questions and gave their impressions.
Participants made requests for forums on the themes of “first-year education,” “quality assurance of education,” and “FD collaboration with university staff” as future projects. In response to the re-examination of FD in the 20th edition, expectations are high for the next 21st session.
