The training program of the University Consortium Kyoto aims not only to improve the English proficiency of faculty and staff of member schools who can respond to such times, but also to raise their awareness of language learning in the future.

TOEIC Listening & Reading Seminar
Lecturers: Atsuko Nishitani, Maho Sano, Kyoto Sangyo University
Instructors with extensive experience in teaching TOEIC preparation will teach you how to improve your TOEIC score efficiently. In the morning, we will focus on the reading section (Part 5~7) and in the afternoon the listening section (Part 1~4), where we will introduce frequent patterns and effective learning methods for practical practice.

Active-Learning for English-speaking Classroom
Lecturer: Mikako Nishikawa
Mainly for teachers. Students will learn various know-how and skills for conducting classes in “English” using AL.
It will be a “practical” course in which teachers take the initiative in a flipped class using simulated classes and ICT, such as the practice of two-way classes using instructions in English and participatory classes based on materials from flipped classrooms. We would also like to invite teachers who are worried about teaching in English to participate.

Telephoning and Emails

In this course, you will assume various scenarios, and learn basic greetings and skills such as intermediary and meeting arrangements when responding to phone calls. In e-mail, you will learn the format, tone, style, syntax, etc. of English e-mail based on scenarios.

Cross-cultural Manners and English Communication in Higher Institutions
Lecturer: Mikako Nishikawa
For staff involved in international education-related work at universities. Mannerisms and ways of communicating vary greatly from culture to culture.
In this course, in order to respond to the increase in the number of international students and foreign researchers, we will deepen our understanding of cultural diversity, communication styles, business etiquette, etc. Through role-play and PBL (problem-solving exercises) in various settings, we aim to improve communication skills in English.

Gain improved communication skills in meeting discussions. Students will learn meeting phrases and processes, improve their ability to speak English instantaneously, and acquire the ability to speak logically in practice.
