Business Overview
This is an educational travel program conducted jointly with the Kyoto Tourism Promotion Council (Secretariat: Kyoto City) and JTB Kyoto Branch Co., Ltd.
University students studying in Kyoto act as guides for students on school trips and field trips visiting Kyoto, and introduce the charms of Kyoto directly by walking around the city together with sightseeing spots and university campuses while interacting like brothers and sisters.
In a survey of university students enrolled in universities in Kyoto, about one in two respondents who had experienced a school trip or field trip in junior high and high school responded that it had an impact on their university entrance exams. Based on these results, it is expected that visiting Kyoto while still in junior high and high school will provide a valuable opportunity for students to think about their future career paths, not only by visiting Kyoto and touring sightseeing spots, but also by directly interacting with “university students” who are close in age to them and visiting universities to be stimulated.
Based on the results of the 2012 research theme of the “Future Kyoto Creation Research Project” (a joint project between the University Consortium Kyoto and the City of Kyoto) “Analysis of the Impact of School Trip Destinations on University Admission and Measures to Disseminate the Attractiveness of Universities: A Case Study of Questionnaire Analysis of School Trip Students and University Students” (Principal Investigator: Associate Professor Manabu Inoue, Faculty of International Tourism Studies, Heian Jogakuin University)
