Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology University Education Reform Support Program

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) will select the best educational reform initiatives implemented by universities, junior colleges, technical colleges, etc., and support them, as well as provide information to society at large. While referring to the initiatives selected by other universities, we are promoting educational reform and promoting university education reform. We call this excellent approach “Good Practice” (GP for short).

In the past, the University Consortium Kyoto collaborated with the University Consortium Kyoto to introduce the projects that have been adopted.

Distinctive University Education Support Program

What is the Distinctive University Education Support Program?

The “Distinctive University Education Support Program (Featured GP)” supports financial support by selecting initiatives to improve the quality of student education, such as devising and improving educational methods and curricula that have been proven at each university and junior college. In addition, we provide information to society on selected initiatives and promote the revitalization of higher education.

August 2004 “Creation of a New Liberal Arts Education through University Collaboration ~Credit Transfer System in the Kyoto Region~”

substance The “credit transfer system” is a system in which students take regular courses offered by other universities and those credits are recognized as credits at their own university. The University Consortium Kyoto is the largest in Japan, with approximately 50 universities and junior colleges that have signed agreements and operate the system. In order to cultivate students’ inquisitive minds and awareness of acquiring a wide range of knowledge, we offer a wide range of courses in each field such as humanities, social sciences, and nature so that students can take courses according to their interests.

What is the Strategic University Collaboration Support Program?

The “Strategic University Collaboration Support Program” is a program that promotes active collaboration between national, public, and private universities and makes effective use of the education and research resources of each university to further enhance the level of education and research, guarantee the quality of educational activities, differentiate and complement each other by function by clarifying individuality and characteristics, and strengthen the management base of the university. The purpose of this program is to promote human resource development in harmony with the local community.









August 2008 “Comprehensive Research on FD through Collaboration with Universities in the Region, Development of Common Programs, and Establishment of an Organizational Operation System”

period Until FY2010
substance The Kyoto FD Development Promotion Center will be established to promote FD activities at universities and junior colleges in the Kyoto region, and a system will be established to enable systematic FD professional development. The main areas of the project are (1) FD consultation, (2) provision of FD certification training programs, (3) monitoring and coordination of FD program development and verification, and (4) accumulation and dissemination of FD information.
