Outline of the event
7th Concept
The 7th Kyoto Student Festival aims to “deepen” the Kyoto Student Festival as a whole, such as improving the quality of planning, stimulating regional exchanges, and deepening collaboration between industry, academia, and government. By doing so, we will lay the foundation for the further “evolution” of the student festival in the future, and through this festival, we will strive to spread the “smile” that is the origin of the festival to everyone involved in the Kyoto Student Festival.
We will create a festival that is more attractive than ever before, with the concept of “Kyoto Festival that spreads smiles ~From “evolution” to “deepening”~” with the desire to “make the city of Kyoto even more full of smiles and vitality.”
Through the “Festival with a Sense of Unity” created by all people working together, we will transmit the students’ desire to bring smiles and energize as many people as possible from Kyoto to the whole country.

Activities other than the main festival
Annual Ongoing Activities
Activities to disseminate the original creative odori “Kyo Flame Sodefure!”
At the Kyoto Student Festival, as a way to disseminate Kyoto’s new culture in the creation of the festival, we want to have fun with everyone from small children to the elderly. With this in mind, we created this “Kyo Flame Sodetouche!” In the 7th edition, the number of performers was nearly 560, and the total number of presentations and deliveries was about 280 times a year.
Kyo Flame Mikoshi
We aim to revitalize Kyoto by carrying the thoughts and wishes of the people on Mikoshi, which is said to carry people’s thoughts and wishes, and the thoughts of the Kyoto Student Festival, which is a new power created by Kyoto, the city of students. Then, by wishing for the well-being of the students and citizens studying in Kyoto, and by carrying the desire to further enliven Kyoto on the Kyo Flame Mikoshi, we will convey that feeling and make it something that will be passed down together with the Kyo Flame Mikoshi.
Sanjo Kyo Flame Festival ~Kyoto Student Festival Parade~
This year, too, on Sanjo Street, we will carry the thoughts of citizens and students. In addition, various projects will be held around Shinpukan and Sanjo Street, and Sanjo Street will be enlivened by the power of students!
Interaction between university students and local festivals
By participating in the Kyoto Student Festival and local festivals as mikoshi bearers and enjoying the festival with the participants, we will create a place for community exchange, demonstrate the energy of the students, and enliven the whole of Kyoto.
Community exchange with students and children (Mikoshi creative groups)
We support the creation of “creative mikoshi” by groups participating in parades at kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and children’s centers in Kyoto.
KYO-SENSE Project
In order to become a festival rooted in the city of Kyoto, the Kyoto Student Festival has undertaken a new project in its sixth year. Because Kyoto is a city of students, we will send out a new message from the standpoint of a student!
We want to reduce the burden on the environment as much as possible when holding the festival. Through this festival, we want to convey the charm of Kyoto to as many people as possible. Students will learn the wisdom of ancient times and the wisdom of today, and propose a sustainable social model.
Community Exchange Activities
Okazaki Night Patrol
We have been focusing on regional exchanges in the past. In particular, in the Okazaki area, which is used as a venue, we hold a night patrol every month. In recognition of our efforts, we received a security stick and a security jumper from the Kawabata Crime Prevention Association in 2007. This year, we will put more effort into community exchange than ever before to make the festival more exciting.
Participation in local summer festivals
We are helping with the summer festival in the Anyeong and Umeyo areas of Motoanyeong Elementary School, which we use as a base for activities, and the summer festival in the Okazaki area. In addition, at summer festivals in other regions, Kyo Flame Sodefure! We are showing off.
Implementation Report
We aimed to “deepen” the Kyoto Student Festival as a whole, such as by invigorating regional exchanges and deepening collaboration between industry, academia, and government. By doing so, we laid the foundation for the further “evolution” of the student festival in the future, and through this festival, we strived to spread the “smile” that is the origin of the festival to everyone involved in the Kyoto Student Festival.
As a result of the launch of the new KYO-SENSE project and the Heisei Shinsengumi project, we were able to attract a total of 227,000 visitors over the two days, the largest ever.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who came to the venue and to all the parties involved who supported us in various ways in holding this festival.
