Outline of the event
The 8th Concept
At the 8th Kyoto Student Festival, we will clarify the characteristics of this year, create a festival that will be remembered by visitors, and aim to be loved by everyone involved in the Kyoto Student Festival, including the local community.
In order to make the Kyoto Student Festival a new traditional festival in Kyoto, we will continue to invigorate regional exchanges and deepen cooperation between industry, academia, and government, so that this festival will permeate the community and become a festival that is supported.
With the desire to “make the city of Kyoto even more vibrant with the power of students,” we will create a festival that is more attractive than ever before, with the concept of “a festival that will be remembered and loved.”
By uniting all people to create a “memorable and beloved festival,” we will transmit the students’ passionate desire to lead to the further revitalization of Kyoto from Kyoto to the whole country and the world.

Activities other than the main festival
Annual Ongoing Activities
Activities to disseminate the original creative odori “Kyo Flame Sodefure!”
It has been six years since the creation of the Kyoto Student Festival’s original creation “Kyo Flame Sodefure!” that all generations can enjoy together as a way to disseminate Kyoto’s new culture. This year, we will place more importance on interacting with local people and strive to revitalize Kyoto.
The number of odori performers has increased to about 750, and the number of odori performances and visiting classes continues to increase to about 360 times a year. This year, Kyo Flame Sode-Fure! In order to let more people know about it, we will make it fun to see and experience Kyoflame Sodetouche! We will send out.
Kyo Flame Mikoshi
We aim to revitalize Kyoto by carrying the thoughts and wishes of the people on Mikoshi, which is said to carry people’s thoughts and wishes, and the thoughts of the Kyoto Student Festival, which is a new power created by Kyoto, the city of students. Then, by wishing for the well-being of the students and citizens studying in Kyoto, and by carrying the desire to further enliven Kyoto on the Kyo Flame Mikoshi, we will convey that feeling and make it something that will be passed down together with the Kyo Flame Mikoshi.
Sanjo Kyo Flame Festival ~Kyoto Student Festival Parade~
This year, too, on Sanjo Street, we will carry the thoughts of citizens and students. In addition, various projects will be held around Shinpukan and Sanjo Street, and Sanjo Street will be enlivened by the power of students!
Interaction between university students and local festivals
By participating in the Kyoto Student Festival and local festivals as mikoshi bearers and enjoying the festival with the participants, we will create a place for community exchange, demonstrate the energy of the students, and enliven the whole of Kyoto.
Community exchange with students and children (Mikoshi creative groups)
We support the creation of “creative mikoshi” by groups participating in parades at kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and children’s centers in Kyoto.
KYO-SENSE Project
At KYO-SENSE, we will make use of the sensibilities of the students studying in Kyoto, the city of Kyoto, where the Kyoto Protocol was launched, and work to make the festival loved by the local Mr./Ms., the city of Kyoto, and the whole country as an environmentally friendly festival. Last year, as a part of the Planning and Management Department, the community, companies, and students worked together to make use of the wisdom of the past and the wisdom of today. We have proposed a sustainable social model. As a project of the newly established Regional Business Division, we will disseminate eco-friendliness from the Kyoto Student Festival throughout the year.
Community Exchange Activities
Night patrols in the area
In the Okazaki area, which is used as a venue, night patrols are held on the 20th of every month. In recognition of our efforts, we received a security stick and a security jumper from the Kawabata Crime Prevention Association in 2007.
In addition, on the 5th of every month, it is also held in the Anyeong and Meiyu areas, which are the places of activity. We will continue to patrol for the safety and revitalization of the community.
Participation in local summer festivals
We are helping with the summer festival in the Anyeong and Umeyo areas of Motoanyeong Elementary School, which we use as a base for activities, and the summer festival in the Okazaki area. In addition, at summer festivals in other regions, Kyo Flame Sodefure! We are showing off.
Sanjo Kyo Flame Festival
The project that has been held in the Sanjo area so far was positioned as an announcement parade for this festival, and the parade was held in the center of Kyoto, Shijo Kawaramachi ~ Sanjo Dori. In addition, we have also carried out music performance projects at Sanjo-dori.
This year’s Sanjo Kyo Flame Festival will not only be an announcement of the main festival, but will also be held during the summer vacation to bring the local people and students closer together. By creating such a community-based project, we aim to make the Kyoto Student Festival a festival that will remain in the memory of not only the people of the Sanjo area, but also various people.
Date: Sunday, August 29, 2010 11:00~17:00
Venue: Sanjo-dori (Teramachi ~ Higashi-do-in), in front of each facility along the line, in front of the store, Shinpukan (Parade route: Shijo Kawaramachi ~ Kawaramachi Oike ~ Teramachi Oike ~ Teramachi Sanjo ~ Sanjo Higashi-in ~ Shinpukan)
Plans:
・Parade
Kyo Flame Sodetouch! The event opens with a parade that includes various performance elements.
・Shinpukan Project
We will carry out music projects using the stage, participatory projects, and Shinpukan finale projects.
・Sanjo-dori project
On Sanjo Street, there will be a “KYO-SENSE Stamp Rally” involving the local community and visitors, and a “Sanjo Performance Road” that will liven up the community with lively music.
Implementation Report
Aiming for a new traditional festival in Kyoto, the concept was “a memorable festival, a beloved festival.” First of all, with the aim of creating a festival loved by Kyoto, we emphasized the importance of interaction with the local community and established the Regional Business Department to put this into practice. Through the planning of the Regional Business Department, we aimed to stimulate exchanges with the local community.
In addition, we focused on participatory planning to create a memorable festival for visitors and participants. As part of this effort, we revived the “Dream Orchestra” and brought many people involved in the Kyoto Student Festival.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who came to the venue and to all the parties involved who supported us in various ways in holding this festival.
