The 10th Kyoto Student Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary, is the culmination of the past 10 years, and at the same time, we hope to make it a year of new beginnings with an eye on the future.

At the 10th Kyoto Student Festival, we will enrich the Kyoto Student Festival as a whole by engaging in a variety of activities throughout the year more than ever before.
In doing so, we will build a deeper relationship with the many people involved in the festival, weave each thought as a single “thread” of “empathy”, and create it together as one! And we will build this “thread” thick and durable so that it will lead to the Kyoto Student Festival in the future.

Activities other than the main festival

Annual Ongoing Activities

Kyoen Makunashi! ・Love, Kyoto -Kyoto Student Festival-

This year’s first attempt at a continuing activity, “Kyoen Makunashi!”, is an initiative that began with the desire to “create a garden of connection (= Kyoen) in Kyoto that does not bring down the curtain throughout the year (= makunashi).” Monthly events were held at various commercial facilities in Kyoto, and a different executive committee member was in charge of everything from planning to operation, providing an opportunity for experience and step-up for the main festival in October, as well as creating a sense of freshness for visitors despite the ongoing activities.

Activities to disseminate the original creative odori “Kyo Flame Sodefure!”

It has been eight years since the birth of the Kyoto Student Festival’s original creation “Kyo Flame Sodefure!”, which allows all generations to enjoy and connect together as a way to disseminate a new culture in Kyoto. The number of odori performers has exceeded 900, and the number of odori performances and visiting classes for the purpose of popularizing odori continues to increase to 569 times a year. Last year, as a new initiative, we started an odori class with the aim of creating a place where connections with local people can be created, and this year, in order to make it known to even more people, we will send out “Kyo Flame Sodefure!” that can be enjoyed both by watching and experiencing it.

KYO-SENSE Project

This year, we will continue to work on the “KYO-SENSE” project, an initiative launched by the Kyoto Student Festival to review the environment from our daily lives and propose new lifestyles while learning from the traditional culture that is common to Kyoto. While making use of the sensibilities of students studying in Kyoto, we will disseminate eco-friendliness throughout the year.

Student Support

Student Growth Programs

In this project, the executive committee members will be divided into teams such as the Sales Department, Public Relations Department, and General Affairs Department, and will work together with the government, companies, and local people to make the festival a success. We believe that such relationships with people and practical experiences will lead to the acquisition of the skills necessary to survive in society, such as “basic skills for working adults” and “employment skills.” In addition, in order to develop students who will lead the university city of Kyoto, this project is positioned as a leader training program as a kind of project, and we will support students on a daily basis.

Kyoto Student Festival Management School

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of its inception, we look back on the progress of this project, reaffirm the mission of this project, and hope that this unity of awareness will lead to further development and leaps forward in the future.

A total of nine lectures were held, including the first session (February 25) with Representative Secretary Chikao Tanabe and the seventh session (April 21) with Representative Secretary Hase, as well as the orientation held prior to the first lecture and the special lecture (8th) by Professor Keiji Hata of Ehime University, entitled “If Drucker Led the Kyoto Student Festival.” There were 35~40 participants each time, for a total of about 300 people. In principle, each workshop was held in which two instructors gave lectures, and based on the lectures, the students discussed with each other and threw them to the instructor.

The participants unanimously commented, “I began to think deeply about the mission of the student festival, and I was able to hear from business people I don’t usually meet, and I was able to realize that everyone has high expectations for Mr./Ms..”

Reflection meeting (dissemination of results)

Sunday, October 12, 2012 Campus Plaza Kyoto
Lecturer: Masami Mori (Professor, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kyoto Bunkyo University)
The students work together with the members to solve problems within the team and work as executive committee members to achieve results. By recalling it, we will promote learning, awareness, and application. This time, in order to verbalize the “learning” and “awareness” that we were able to gain through the activities of the student festival, we held a workshop to look back on the actions taken to achieve the goals of the team and individuals.
