Survey and Report on the Growth of the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee

Student Growth Programs

The University Consortium Kyoto, which provides support to the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee, supports the daily activities of students based on the principle that the Student Executive Committee members themselves “take the initiative in conducting business.” We hope that the student executive committee members who are active at Intercollegiate will “interact” and “experience” with a wide variety of people through their independent activities will lead to new “awareness” and “learning” that will lead to the growth of students.
Specifically, we have adopted the PDCA cycle method, which treats the activities of the executive committee as a single project, and focuses on working toward a single goal as a team and producing results as a team. With the goal of smooth execution of activities, improvement of projects, and continuous development of businesses, we are working to create a system that promotes the growth of students by promoting the following support methods.

PDCA Cycle at the Kyoto Student Festival

    • Planning period (November ~ May): Information gathering, awareness, planning, start training (goal setting)
    • Trial period (May ~ September): Implementation of pre-project (medium-scale project imitating the main festival)
    • Verification period (June ~ August): Mid-term review meeting
    • Implementation period (October): Implementation of this project
    • Dissemination of results (around October ~ November): Implementation of post-mortem review meetings and results debriefing sessions

Growth of the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee

According to the “Growth Survey of Executive Committee Members” conducted in 2015 and 2016, it was confirmed that the students who are members of the Student Festival Executive Committee have significantly improved their “collaborative skills.” It is thought that the activities of the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee are characterized by the “large number of team activities” by students beyond the boundaries of the university, and the “encounters with diverse others” such as governments, economic organizations, and local people.
In addition, it was confirmed that the values obtained from the PROG test (*1) of the students who are members of the Student Festival Executive Committee are comparable to the values of model working adults (*2) in the items of “affinity,” “collaboration ability,” and “practical ability.” In addition, this figure is higher than the number of students who have experienced regular PBL (*3), indicating that the activities of the Kyoto Student Festival are contributing to the growth of students.
