Business Overview
With the inclusion of the description of “career education” in the Course of Study for High Schools (March 2009) and the development of career education and vocational education aimed at social and vocational independence through primary and secondary education to higher education, the Kyoto High School-University Collaborative Research Council has been promoting the ” ” since 2012 with the aim of stimulating high school students’ motivation to learn and contributing to the promotion of career education in each school. Career Education” project has been launched.
Future Session for High School and University Collaboration
With the aim of promoting the career development of high school and university students, this program allows students to engage in dialogue and exchange on a set theme across generations and schools, including high school students, university students, and working adults.
In FY2023, we will plan a program to discuss “questions” related to the High School-University Collaborative Education Forum, and to think about what kind of thinking and action should be taken by high school and university students at the turning point that will come in the future.
Outline of the event
Let’s think about tips for truly enjoying exploration and research.
~How can I connect my inquiry, research, and good questions to my future career~
Based on the revision of the new Course of Study from the 4th year of Reiwa, “time for comprehensive inquiry” has been incorporated into inquiry learning in high school in earnest.
An increasing number of university students have already experienced exploration when they were in high school and are enrolling in universities.
Through this kind of inquiry-based learning, you can realize how important it is to think about how to design questions.
In this future session, high school and university students will proactively interact with each other based on their inquiry-based learning in order to develop the ability to live in the present situation in a situation where it is difficult to see the future these days.
Through this kind of exchange, high school students will have the opportunity to learn about the significance and motivation of inquiry-based learning initiatives, their own future, and how inquiry-based learning is connected to learning after entering university, and to connect them to their future social lives.
In addition, university students will have the opportunity to “look back on their inquiry-based learning and university research when they were in high school” and “re-examine the ‘questions'” to recognize their connection to society in the near future.

Implementation Report
On Friday, November 3rd, we held the 2023 High School and University Collaboration Future Session. Since the new coronavirus infection has become a category 5 infectious disease, the event was held only in a face-to-face format, and 32 participants gathered.
This year, instead of the executive committee format of last year, coordinators and observers provided topics from their respective perspectives on the theme of “Let’s think about tips for truly enjoying exploration and research ~ How to connect exploration, research, and good questions to future careers~”, and participating high school and university students held a dialogue in a world café format with “questions” as a keyword. The atmosphere was friendly from beginning to end, and we were able to engage in lively exchanges of opinions and dialogues.
In addition, this time, high school teachers and university faculty members were not only observed, but also set up one group to exchange opinions and engage in dialogue from the perspectives of faculty and staff on the same theme.
From the questionnaire of high school and university students who participated, they commented that “I felt that I was not embarrassed by the feeling of not knowing” and “I was able to interact with various people regardless of age, gender, or area of residence and think about my future from various angles,” making it a fulfilling opportunity to fully achieve the purpose of “promoting career development.”
