FY2018~2021

Business Overview

In 2018, we launched the Kyoto High School Teacher Exchange Meeting as a program to regularly approach high school teachers who directly instruct high school students aiming to enter university to promote understanding of high school-university collaboration and improve the educational capabilities of high schools.
In order to contribute to the resolution of issues faced by each school and the improvement of education, we provide a place for students to meet regularly regardless of school or establishment, share educational ideas and concerns, and interact with each other to solve problems.

The 4th Kyoto High School Teacher Exchange Meeting
theme Exchange of candidate research themes assuming the opening of science and mathematics exploration courses
Overview Discuss and interact with students on the creation of lessons, the development of teaching materials, and their evaluations centered on the themes of exploration of science and mathematics.
In the 2020 revision of the Course of Study, a new course of “Exploration of Science and Mathematics” was established with the aim of “fostering creative human resources who can bring about the creation of knowledge through academic research in the future.” In implementing this new course, there are voices from high schools that are worried about issues such as the selection of research themes and the development of a teaching system, and there is a need to respond to them. Many high schools that struggle with the selection of research topics in mathematics, especially mathematics, may not be able to systematically organize why it is difficult. In addition, from the perspective of improving the quality of inquiry, there is a shortage of fellow faculty members who can study and evaluate the selection of research themes and consider them together. There is a possibility that hints can be obtained from the practical case reports of exploration themes that have already been implemented in advance, as well as from the individual exploration tasks of exploration activities such as SSH.
In this article, we will share current issues, collaborate with high school and university teachers, search for hints for solving these problems, and consider the meaning of mathematical inquiry.

The 5th Kyoto High School Teacher Exchange Meeting
theme Classroom experience and exchange of opinions to acquire problem-finding skills
Overview Participants will experience question-making classes to acquire the ability to find problems in inquiry-based learning and comprehensive learning, and interact with each other.
Isn’t it important for high school and university students to acquire the skills and mindset to design and practice learning spaces where learners can ask their own questions and delve into those questions while learning from others? It is also important for us as teachers to be able to learn, understand, and use new ways of learning to identify issues.
Therefore, while interacting in a group work format, we aim to cultivate the ability to find problems in inquiry-based learning and comprehensive learning.

FY2020

Kyoto High School Teacher Exchange Meeting Emergency Special Event (Online Pre-Planning)
theme Online information exchange meeting related to the motivation of new students and their motivation to learn due to school closures
Overview With the closure of schools to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, there are concerns that students’ motivation to learn will decrease. In particular, new students are expected to have difficulty maintaining motivation because they will not be able to build relationships with friends and seniors after attending school a few times, and will be closed or switched to online classes. Although there are many issues to be addressed, such as academic ability and daily life, it is important to consider new students, and this time it will be a place for interaction specializing in maintaining motivation and dealing with mental aspects.
In addition, it will be an opportunity to experience online interaction through the use of Zoom meetings.

The 6th Kyoto High School Teacher Exchange Meeting
theme Practicing active learning online
Overview Some schools have started online classes to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, but few schools are offering interactive remote classes. Active Learning (hereinafter referred to as “AL”), which is recommended to be introduced in the new Course of Study. It is difficult to achieve this in online classes, and the development of such a method is desired.
Therefore, in a limited ICT environment, we will share how to realize AL by utilizing online technology not only to unilaterally transfer knowledge. In addition, we will sort out the differences between the academic skills that can only be acquired through online AL and those that can only be acquired through face-to-face AL, and explore hints on how to use online and face-to-face classes according to the purpose.

The 7th Kyoto High School Teacher Exchange Meeting
theme Experience a class that acquires the skills and mindset to identify issues, and think about how to use it in your own classes.
Overview Isn’t it important for students and students to acquire the skills and mindset to ask their own questions and to practice learning to delve into those questions while learning from others? Isn’t it important for us as teachers to learn, understand, and use new ways of learning to identify issues?
Therefore, through hands-on workshops, lectures, and various types of work in the form of individual and group work, we will delve into how to cultivate the ability to identify issues in each subject and in inquiry/comprehensive learning.

Overview In recent years, terms and concepts such as active learning, proactive, interactive, and deep learning, inquiry, and synthesis have been presented in search of a better way of learning, and specific ways of learning have been explored.
This time, as a basic part of learner-centered question-making, participants will have an opportunity to create questions and have a dialogue with each other about “better learning” through a question-making method experience workshop such as QFT (Question Formulation Technique). I would like you to conduct a meta-analysis of the learning effects of each process and facilitation of QFT, and obtain a concrete image and action plan for use in your school’s organizational development and classroom practice.
