Implementation Report
Since 2003, the SD Forum has been held annually as a place to exchange opinions through keynote speeches and breakout sessions based on themes of high interest in the SD field, with the aim of improving the skills of university staff and exchanging information. The forum, which celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2023, was held online as it was last year, with the overall theme of “Aiming for a University where ‘Organizations’ and ‘Individuals’ Grow Together.” In the keynote speech of the first part, Professor Hajime Ota of the Faculty of Policy Studies, Doshisha University, was invited to give a lecture on the theme of “Creating an Organization that Draws Out the Motivation and Abilities of Faculty and Staff.” In the second part, subcommittees were held on two themes: “The Science of Human Resource Development: Focusing on Off-JT for Sharing Practical Knowledge among Employees” and “Purpose Model: Communication that Connects Your Thoughts and the Organization and Moves the Team.”
Participants commented that they were able to understand the organizational culture and characteristics of faculty members and learn how to behave as staff, and that the concept of “direct integration” and “indirect integration” was useful for organizing the organization, but some participants felt that the content was difficult to understand. In addition, in the subcommittee, there were opinions that the case method is a good example of behavior change and that it would be Thailand to be considered by one’s own organization, and that the purpose model was important in moving the university organization to a positive climate. The online event was well received because it was easy to participate without travel time or transportation costs, and because it was an efficient way to learn the main points, and 92 of the survey respondents %が肯定的な意見を示した。全体の85% respondents answered “satisfied/somewhat satisfied,” indicating that the program contributed to improving the quality of participants, but the number of participants decreased from 163 last year to 92. We believe that the enhancement of training content at our own universities due to the mandatory SD and the increase in SD training programs of other organizations online also had an impact.
For the next fiscal year, the SD Training Committee will hold a series of discussions and proceed with discussions, including the setting of themes of high interest and the review of FD and SD projects.
