Theme_2011

Ten years have passed since the 2000s, and how will society in the 21st century be imagined and formed? Just as each of us was trying to answer that question, the Great East Japan Earthquake struck. Japan is currently facing the great challenges of unprecedented natural disasters such as the massive earthquake and tsunami and the nuclear accident caused by them. After 3.11, our perspective on the future of society had to change drastically.
Under these circumstances, what kind of roles will universities and university consortiums be required to play in the future? To continue to promote and develop higher education and scientific and technological research as in the past. In addition, it will be a major challenge to seek a common good to realize a world that promotes human happiness more than ever before. How can we harmonize scientific progress with the future of humankind, and how can we develop and propose new ideas, social systems, and social technologies? These issues are becoming a major mission for universities to take the initiative in. Through its involvement with local communities, the governments, companies, and citizens that support them, universities must find answers to a variety of issues.
The 8th National University Consortium Research Exchange Forum will be held under the theme of “Contributing to Society in the New Era of Universities” based on this recognition of the times. We will provide a place where students can talk and learn about the new relationship between the university and society, as well as the prospects and challenges for the future.
