Common Library Browsing System

summary

The Common Browsing System is a system that can be used mainly to browse materials held by libraries of member universities and junior colleges of the University Consortium Kyoto only by presenting an ID card (student ID card, faculty member ID, etc.).
* There are libraries of universities and junior colleges that are not participating, so please check in advance.

The purpose of the Common Browsing System is to take advantage of the number of books in the collections and characteristics of the participating university and junior college libraries to revitalize education and research and improve user services. A number of consortium-type common browsing systems have already been implemented in other regions, and the mutual use of consortium-type systems through simple procedures has been highly evaluated by users.
Please note that the terms of use (start date, method of use, time zone, services provided, etc.) differ depending on the university library, so please be sure to check the “User Guide” of the “List of Participating University and Junior College Libraries of the University Consortium Kyoto Common Browsing System” in advance. We look forward to your active use.

In order to build a common browsing system that transcends the framework of national, public, and private universities, the University Consortium Kyoto established the Common Browsing Project within the Library Joint Projects Review Committee in 2003 and has been promoting specific initiatives. In May 2005, the outline of the system was compiled, and at the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees meeting held on October 22, 2005, the launch of a common browsing system was proposed and approved.

Step 3: Please check the detailed information on the usage guide of participating universities and junior college libraries.

If you wish to be sure that you would like to view the materials, we recommend that you conduct a survey using the “Collection Survey and Inspection Request Form”. The use of a unified format in the libraries of member universities and junior colleges of the University Consortium Kyoto that participate in the Common Browsing System simplifies the procedure and ensures that it can be used more quickly than before. This document cannot be applied for individually, so please complete the procedure in advance at the library of the university to which you belong.
