Business Overview
The University Consortium Kyoto has been holding an FD forum every year since 1995 with the aim of raising awareness of FD among university faculty and staff and contributing to the improvement of university education, but this year it will incorporate more SD elements than ever before and be held as an “FD/SD Forum.” This is an FD/SD-related event that is attended by many university faculty and staff members and education-related personnel from all over the country.

| The era in which university education could function as a system isolated from the rest is coming to an end. Universities are being called upon to shift to a system that can engage with the learning of each individual learner throughout their life, while more organically linking with sectors such as primary and secondary education, adult education, and lifelong education. In addition, with the use of information systems and distance learning, mechanisms such as micro-credentials that guarantee and authenticate learners’ learning at smaller units are also evolving rapidly. Based on this awareness of the issues and recognition of the current situation, the symposium aims to explore the form of university education that is suited to an era in which learners learn independently and organize their own learning. |

| In this session, we would like to discuss what a university should be for the community, based on the coexistence of the university and the community. We will have speakers from various positions, not just faculty members, give speeches on the theme of coexistence between the community and the university, and give messages to the faculty and staff who are responsible for the university. We would like to discuss what we, the faculty and staff of a university, should do for the community, and what we can do. |

Information exchange meeting
Date: March 1 (Sat) 17:30-19:00
At this information exchange meeting, faculty, staff, students, and speakers from all over the country will come together and enjoy a meal while interacting.
While reflecting on the theme of this event, please enjoy meaningful conversations for the future.
We hope that this will be a special time where new encounters are made and experiences and realizations are shared.
*Please note that due to the provision of alcohol, people under the age of 20 are not permitted to attend the information exchange meeting.
Important Notices for Participation
<For both Days 1 and 2>
・Please use public transportation to come to the event.
・Please be considerate and turn off your mobile phones and smartphones or set them to silent mode at lecture, subcommittee, and workshop venues.
・Please take your trash home with you.
・Please refrain from eating and drinking at the symposium venue (Classroom B201 of Wagakan).
・Eating and drinking is permitted at the subcommittee and workshop venues and on the first basement floor of Wagakan.
・During the university’s spring break, the cafeteria and convenience stores on campus are closed, so please prepare your own lunch.

- Except in the event of cancellation, participation fees will not be refunded regardless of the reason.
- Please note that you cannot change the contents of your application after the application procedure is completed.
*You can freely move between breakout sessions (lecture-based) even after they have started.
*Workshops are in a group work format, so you cannot move or change them. - The payment deadline is Thursday, February 13, 2025. If payment is not completed by the deadline, we will assume that you have no intention of participating and your application will be invalid.
- Please note that even if you pay too much due to incomplete information such as your affiliation or category, we will not be able to refund your payment.
If the participation fee is insufficient, we will invoice you for the shortfall at a later date.
Payment of the participation fee
You can choose from the following payment methods:

- Payment for ① and ② will be made using the email-linked system “Paysys”.
- Information regarding ① and ② will be sent from Paysys’ <info@paysys.jp> email address after you apply to participate.
- ③If you pay by bank transfer, please note that you will be responsible for bank transfer fees.
- Credit card information is not held by the University Consortium Kyoto.
It is sent to the card company via Metaps Payment Co., Ltd., the payment system operator (Paysys).
Application period
An early application period is being set up for faculty, staff, and students of universities and junior colleges that are members of the University Consortium Kyoto.
Applications will be accepted up to the priority capacity during the early application period.
For members of affiliated universities and junior colleges: Friday, January 10, 2025, 10:00am to Friday, February 7, 2025, 5:00pm
For others: Friday, January 17, 2025, 10:00am to Friday, February 7, 2025, 5:00pm
If you require reasonable accommodations, such as access to information, due to a disability or other reason, please contact the FD/SD Forum Secretariat by 5:00 PM on Friday, February 7th.
We will respond to your request after consulting with you individually.
How to apply [Online application only]
*This forum requires prior application. Applications will not be accepted outside the application period or on the day of the forum.
Step 1: Apply (first come, first served)
- Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and will close once capacity is reached. (There is no waiting list for cancellations.)
- Please note that once the application process is complete, the symposium, breakout sessions, and workshops cannot be changed.

Step 2: Receive the application completion email
After completing the application procedure, we will send the applicant an “Application Completion Email.”
*If you do not receive the “Application Completion Email” by the next day, please contact us.

Step 3: Pay the participation fee

After completing the application process, please check the website and pay the participation fee by the deadline.
*Payment methods include credit card payment, convenience store payment, and bank transfer.
Step 4 Download materials
After Friday, February 21st, a download URL for pre-distributed materials for each event will be sent to the email address listed in the participant column only to those who have completed the payment procedure for the participation fee.
*Paper-based materials will not be distributed on the day, so please download them to your own device or print them out in advance and bring them with you. (Only for events with pre-distributed materials)
*If you do not receive an email by 3 days before the event, please contact the following inquiries.
Step 5 On the day of the forum (what you need to bring to the reception on the day)
Participants should present the screen or printout of “The 30th FD/SD Forum Participant’s My Page” at the reception on the day.
*If a substitute person is attending, please print out the screen of the “Participant’s My Page” and bring it with you to the reception.
Implementation Report
The report will be posted on the website in May 2025 (it will not be published in paper form).
