Business Overview
With the inclusion of the description of “career education” in the Course of Study for High Schools (March 2009) and the development of career education and vocational education aimed at social and vocational independence through primary and secondary education to higher education, the Kyoto High School-University Collaborative Research Council has been promoting the ” ” since 2012 with the aim of stimulating high school students’ motivation to learn and contributing to the promotion of career education in each school. Career Education” project has been launched.
Future Session for High School and University Collaboration
The Future Session is a program that aims to promote the career development of high school and university students, and is a program in which a theme is set each time and dialogue and exchange on that theme across generations and schools, such as high school students, university students, and working adults.
In fiscal 2021, as in the previous fiscal year, we will recruit executive committee members from high school and university students in Kyoto Prefecture, and the executive committee will take the lead in creating the overall planning such as the theme, guests, and program structure of the day, as well as information leaflets, and will be responsible for public relations and management of the day.
In the midst of major changes in values and social conditions, this program planned by the Executive Committee will be held as follows, from the perspective of what is the interest of high school and university students in the new ways of “learning,” “working,” and “living” in the future.

Let’s talk about a society that respects diversity! ~The State of Japan from the Perspective of Gender Issues~
With the spread of the new coronavirus infection, uncertain information is mixed up and confusion is occurring among people. In addition, gender issues have become apparent in recent years, and disparities are emerging in the world. “LGBTQ” is often reported in the news, but many high school and university students may not feel close to it.
In light of this current situation, why don’t you think about what high school and university students can do to create a society where “no one is left behind,” starting with gender issues?
In this future session, we hope to create an opportunity to deepen understanding and have a sense of ownership by inviting LGBTQ people of the same age who are also entrepreneurs as guests to discuss the current situation in Japan by taking up global issues in the wake of gender issues.
In addition, it will be a place for high school and university students to engage in dialogue and interact with high school students, university students, and working adults in order to make the most of their individuality and cultivate the “thinking ability” necessary for entering society.

Mr. Oka Kaka (First Penguin Co., Ltd. Representative Director) A high school sophomore who is LGBTQ. While attending an international high school, he was active as a high school entrepreneur. He has appeared in various media such as television, newspapers, and radio to express his opinions. Currently, he is not only talking about LGBT issues, but also holding workshops to think about the importance of having dreams, everyone is a minority, and what it means to be who you really are. |

Implementation Report
On Sunday, November 7, we held the 2021 High School and University Collaboration Future Session. This year, the event was held in a hybrid format of face-to-face and online, and a total of 26 participants (22 face-to-face and 4 online) (11 of whom were members of the executive committee) were high school and university students from Kyoto Prefecture.
Continuing from last year, the executive committee members who were in charge of planning and operation gathered at the venue to prepare for the day, moderate, facilitate group work, and serve as secretaries.
This time, under the theme of “Let’s discuss a society that respects diversity!~The state of Japan from the perspective of gender issues~”, we invited Mr. Koka Oka, CEO of First Penguin Co., Ltd., who was invited as a guest, to give a lecture, and during the Q&A session, we deepened the dialogue between the guests and participants by asking more questions in response to questions from the participants and Mr. Oka’s answers.
Afterwards, in the group talk session, the participants were divided into two groups on the themes given by Mr. Oka, such as “use of multipurpose toilets,” “the boundary between distinction and discrimination,” and “what is one’s own identity,” and while incorporating the World Café, they exchanged opinions and engaged in dialogue.
Participants were exposed to a variety of ideas through interactions with students from other schools, students from other universities, and guests that they do not usually meet, and deepened their understanding of diversity, individuality, and respect for one’s own individuality, which was an opportunity for many realizations and learnings.
