Business Overview

The University Consortium Kyoto’s industry-academia collaborative education program was launched in 1998 as a pioneering educational program in Japan with the aim of “stimulating motivation to learn,” “fostering a high level of vocational awareness,” and “fostering human resources with independence and originality” through the fusion of actual experience and education and research. It is not limited to mere work experience, but is implemented as a career education with a curriculum that considers “work” from the perspective of practice and fosters basic skills for working adults.

Course Description

Externship Course (formerly Business Course/Public Course)
[Business Class/Public Class]

This course is conducted from August to mid-September for at companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations for at least 2 weeks (10 days of actual work).

Through a systematic learning program called “Pre-Study,” →”Practical Training,” → “Post-Study,” we aim to deepen students’ understanding of the real world, acquire social skills and vocational perspectives, and organize issues and clarify goals for student life after practical training. In the pre- and post-study classes, business classes are organized by industry and industry, and public classes are organized by government and non-profit organizations, and students from other universities are encouraged to conduct industry research, exchange practical training experiences, and discuss with students from other universities to achieve their goals.

Project Planning Practice Course (formerly Long-Term Project Course)

This course is designed for five months from mid-June to late November, where students work on themed issues and projects presented by companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.

Through the project, the goal is to acquire the ability to look at the real world from various angles, grasp the current situation, discover issues, and solve those problems. This is a program in which the host company or organization conducts results-oriented activities in accordance with the project theme (issue) presented to the trainee.
