[For university faculty and staff] Call for participants for the 24th Kansai Student Support Officer Roundtable (KSSK)

 

The Kansai Roundtable of Persons in Charge of Support for Students with Disabilities (KSSK) is a roundtable meeting of practitioners for active discussions, exchange of opinions and information, and build networks on various themes related to support for students with disabilities based on the basic principle of working from the perspective of practitioners.

◆Venue: Campus Plaza Kyoto, 5th floor, Lecture Room 1, etc. (939 Higashi-Shiokoji-cho, Nishitoin-dori, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto)

◆Target: Faculty and staff who are involved in or interested in supporting students with disabilities at universities and junior colleges in the Kansai area

Topic Provision “Employment Support for People with Developmental Disabilities ~Assessment and Support for the Purpose of Establishing Employees in the Workplace~”

≪ Contents≫
With regard to employment support for people with developmental disabilities, we plan to provide specific listening methods and directions for support, taking into account the interaction with the workplace environment, based on the issues that are likely to arise in the process of establishing people with developmental disabilities in the workplace. We would like to provide one of the many approaches (knowledge and clinical skills) that will increase the effectiveness of employment support.

A Management Capacity: 10 people
The purpose of this subcommittee is to ask you to submit a questionnaire in advance and discuss the construction of an organizational support system and system. We welcome the participation of administrators who are already in charge of supporting students with disabilities, as well as universities that are about to start an organization.

B Support Coordination—Basics— Capacity: 20 people
We will ask you to submit a questionnaire in advance, and for those who have been mainly involved in support work for up to one year, we will give a lecture on “the schedule and know-how of the person in charge of supporting students with disabilities for one year”. Faculty and staff who are not staff members of the support department are also welcome to participate.

C Support Coordination—Advanced— Capacity: 10 people
In this subcommittee, coordinators and others are involved in the practice of support, and in cases where they are unsure about the appropriateness and fairness of support, they are asked to submit a questionnaire in advance and exchange opinions, and discuss the current status and issues of support in the form of “consultation on anything.”

D. Career Support (including mental and developmental) Capacity: 20 people
Exit support for students with disabilities in job hunting, etc., is one of the issues at each university. In this subcommittee, we will consider these issues as the theme of “social transition” and discuss practical examples, issues, and prospects at each university. In addition, on the day of the session, we will invite a lecturer with a wealth of research and practical experience in employment support, and it will be a breakout session based on the situation and perspectives of external resources.
Breakout Group D “Career Support (Including Mental Health and Development)” has reached its capacity

E Small University Capacity: 10 students
This is a breakout session for universities with less than 3,000 students. We do not set a specific theme, but share information on the actual conditions and issues of support unique to small universities, and exchange opinions on measures to solve problems.

Please select your preferred ranking for subcommittees A~E up to your third choice. Please note that it is on a first-come, first-served basis, so we may not be able to meet your request.
Note 1: In order to reflect the topics to be covered by the subcommittee, please fill in the application form with information about the problems and issues you have at your university, and the topics you would like to be addressed.
Example: I am worried that I will not be able to convince others that it is difficult to respond to the needs of students with disabilities due to budgetary reasons.
Note 2: Please include the number of students at your university and whether or not there is a support system (if so, the number of department members).
Note 3: If the capacity is exceeded, priority will be given to those who are first served. The subcommittees you will participate in will be included in the email sent about 7 days before the event. Those who participate in subcommittees A~C will be asked to cooperate with individual questionnaires.
