FY2019

Business Overview

The Kyoto Student Festival is a major student-led event that began in 2003 with the aim of enlivening Kyoto with the power of students, and this year marks the 17th anniversary. This festival is planned and operated mainly by the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee, which is made up of students from Kyoto, and is unique in that it is backed by Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, economic organizations, universities, and local communities under an “all-Kyoto” system.
The Executive Committee not only plans and manages the Kyoto Student Festival to be held in October, but also actively engages in exchange activities throughout the year, such as a hands-on event using the original creative odori “Kyo Flame Sodefure!” born from the Kyoto Student Festival, and participation in local events.
This year, which marks the 17th anniversary of the event, the theme is “Challenging from Kyoto, Entering a New Era Together,” and we will work hard every day to build up a new year.

About the theme

With the aim of creating new value together with companies, governments, universities, and the local community, we aim to create new value together with companies, governments, universities, and local communities, and to create new value and expand the possibilities of the “city” of Kyoto, create new value that can only be found in Kyoto, and create an “opportunity” that will lead to the future of Kyoto. In order to create the Kyoto Student Festival, we hope that it will become a more necessary presence in the city of Kyoto.

Purpose of the project

At the 17th Kyoto Student Festival Main Festival, we have been working to create a festival that not only conveys the possibilities and energy of the students to visitors, and makes visitors smile naturally due to the strength of the students, but also involves industry, academia, the public, the community, and the whole of Kyoto, and enlivens the whole of Kyoto.
As an outline of the project, we will incorporate projects that will allow more people than ever before to visit the venue of this festival, and to feel the charm of each content and the main festival, and to feel the enthusiasm of the students, based on “a project where a student’s dream begins” and “a project in which not only people from Kyoto but also tourists, international students, people with disabilities, etc. can participate.”
We aim to make the Kyoto Student Festival more rooted in the community, more loved, more attractive to students, and more permeated by students.
